KATE NASH!

Two weeks ago I bought tickets to go to a Kate Nash concert in Portland. I've been nearly jumping out of my skin in excitement since then. Last night, I finally got to go! I went with some of my favorite people in the world! Kaitlin, KP, and Maya. It was the best girls Monday night out ever. We left school at 2:45, and drove to Portland. It was beautiful and high deserty the first half of the drive there, then suddenly we hit the valley. Trees popped up, and suddenly the rain was POURING. Hydroplating, trucks washing giant waves on us, and water was all over the place! Thankfully we finally made it to Portland after a long, and quite entertaining drive. There was one stoplight in Portland that we think may have been broken, because we sat there for what felt like hours! Soon enough, we made it to Nicolas's Lebanese food, chowed down on a pita as big as a large pizza, and ate many other fascinating things, like spinach somethings, and hummus, and this other thing.. Descriptive, I know. During dinner, KP looked at us and said, "Oh, and by the way we are staying in a hotel tonight," just as if it was as normal as "Go clean the kitchen Kate." That made us QUITE excited as I am sure you can imagine! Then, we were off to the glorious and magnificent WONDER BALLROOM! We arrived, found Danii, my wonderful friend from back in McMinnville, an original Odd Squadrian, and dug our way thru the crowd, searching for a great spot close to the stage. Eventually we found one in the far left corner. I didn't think it would be all that good of a spot at first.... Until Kate Nash came out on stage and started singing.... SEVEN FEET AWAY. She was AMAZING. SPECTACULAR! FABULOUS! BRILLIANT! TREMENDOUS! EXPLOSIVELY AWESOME! The whole concert was amazing, from the first loud song, "I Just Love You More" to the amazing last song "Pumpkin Soup!" Even the terrifying "Mansion Song" was performed brilliantly too, despite the freakish amount of vulgar and LOUD swearing. But hey, it's Kate Nash. She's awesome! Before she came on, a new British band, Peggy Sue, opened for her. I thought they were absolutely marvelous! Their songs were catchy and upbeat, with many different drum beats, an accordion, and some beautiful guitars! Immediately following the concert, I purchased an adorable, but far too large Kate Nash tee shirt with a bunny on it, and a copy of Peggy Sue's CD - Fossils and Other Phantoms - A high recommendation on my part. The CD was autographed by all three members of the band, and we talked, and it took all my self control not to start talking in a British accent myself. Their accents just rolled off their tongues so beautifully! After the concert, we drove down to VooDoo donuts, and bought ourselves some of the most delicious donuts I've ever tasted! I got a tiny voodoo doll shaped donut, and its always terribly heartbreaking when you have to bite the head off an edible food item that has animal or human characteristics. Soon, all of us being wiped out and knowing that yes, there was school the following morning, and it was three hours away, we drove to the lovely Red Lion hotel, where we exhaustedly lugged in our bags and suitcases and Lebanese food remains into the room. Room 240 I believe. The next morning we woke up at a hearty 5 Am, got together our things, and drove to a little cafe to buy coffee and croissants. These we enjoyed on the way out of Portland, and so began the long, tiring ride home. What a night.
